Metal Fabrication Estimator
Estimator: Generate quotations for metal fabrication by evaluating Requests for Quote, technical drawings, and relevant specifications.
Skills/Qualifications:
· Proficient in reading and interpreting metal fabrication blueprints, with a strong capability to analyze specifications and tolerances.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Effective communication skills for engaging with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
· Solid understanding of metal fabrication processes.
Estimator Job Duties:
· Calculate expenses by determining the necessary materials, acquired items, manufacturing processes, and time needs, while creating rate tables based on blueprints, specifications, and associated documents.
· Collaborate with the Purchasing Department to request and gather material cost information.
· Collaborate with the Engineering Department to determine the most efficient use of materials and fabrication techniques.
· Collaborate with the Production Department to determine fabrication rates and explore various fabrication methods.
· Track and analyze metrics concerning the quality and punctuality of estimates provided to clients, as well as the win/loss ratio of submitted estimates.
· Evaluate and suggest modifications to work center rates and associated rate tables.
· Conduct periodic assessments of job costings to verify the precision of estimates and the estimating process.
· Gather input from the Production team to enhance the accuracy of estimates.
· Generate specialized reports by gathering, analyzing, and summarizing relevant information and trends.
· Support team objectives by executing tasks within the Estimating Department and collaborating with other departments, including Production, as required.
Education and/or Experience
· Bachelor or Associate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or five
years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
